Zeeland West’s mighty offense was too much for South Christian to handle Friday, in a 34-21 victory.

The Dux (7-1) moved to 4-1 in the OK-Green Conference, their only loss September 27 against Unity Christian.

Zeeland East has outscored opponents by more than 125 points this season, utilizing great offense and defense despite tough competition on a weekly basis.

Taking command early, Zeeland West jumped out to a 14-0 lead to end the first quarter. Keaton Hendricks and Isaac VanderZwaag scored touchdowns.

The Dux extended their lead 20-7 heading into halftime, getting a 65-yard touchdown reception from QB Trey Sloothaak to Brandon Holman.

South Christian found a defensive rhythm in the third quarter, and QB Carson Vis scored a one-yard touchdown to shrink the deficit down to 20-14 with one quarter remaining.

The two teams went back-and-forth in the fourth quarter, but the Dux’s offense woke back up, scoring two touchdowns to end South Christian’s rally.

Zeeland West faces West Catholic next week to end the regular season. South Christian, who have now lost four straight games, will play Grand Rapids Catholic Central in another tough matchup.
