OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford rolled up 509 yards of offense and finished 9-0 for the second consecutive season, beating Britton Deerfield 51-0 Friday.

The Bobcats (9-0) will enter the state playoffs next week for the sixth consecutive season. The Bobcats have won 18 straight regular season games and are 32-4 since the start of the 2015 season.

“A lot went into getting to this point,” Bobcat coach Jason Mensing said. “We have had a successful year and now we get to go play in the playoffs.”

Thomas Eitniear rushed for 87 yards and passed for 104 to lead the Bobcat offense. Eitniear ran for a TD and threw two touchdown passes to Bradyn Clark-Gilmore. Zach Bertz, Braedon Mills and Murphy added touchdowns for Whiteford, who clinched the outright TCC championship with the win.

Murphy rushed for 81 yards on just seven carries, bringing his regular season total to 1,136 yards.

Ty Eitniear and Bertz had interceptions for the Bobcats and Jack Garrison recovered a fumble. The Whiteford defense recorded its second shutout of the season in holding BD to 164 yards of total offense. Whiteford has two shutouts for the first time since 2013.

With the 51 points, Whiteford went over the 50-point total for a school-record seventh consecutive game and broke the single season point record for the TCC. The Bobcats scored 392 points in seven league games, an average of 56.0 points a game. The old record was held by Clinton and Morenci, who each scored 341 points during the 2014 season.

Whiteford has scored 488 points on the season, a record for most points scored in the regular season for a Monroe County Region team. The previous record was held by Ida, who scored 471 points in the 2016 season.
