Best Win: Benton Harbor over Gull Lake 60-59
Benton came into the game (5-1) riding a three-game winning streak while Gull Lake entered (4-2) attempting to bounce back from the K-Central loss. It is very difficult to travel to Benton Harbor and get a win and that proved true last night as the Tigers won by 1. Gull Lake drops their second straight game to tough competition and will look to get back in the win column on Saturday against Orchard View.
Next Best: Comstock over Allegan 49-41
Comstock dropped to D3 this season but has not been afraid to challenge themselves with non-conference victories over Marcellus and now Allegan. This Allegan team isn’t nearly as bad as recent years, in fact they defeated Paw Paw earlier this season. Comstock is a sleeper in a tough district with K-Christian and Hackett.
Biggest Upset: Holland over Reeths-Puffer 52-42
Holland has been playing surprisingly well lately with their third straight win last night. Defeating a strong Reeths-Puffer team led by multiple future small college players is a strong feat for Holland. They will look to make it four straight on Saturday against Zeeland West.
Best Performances:
Gull Lake’s Caleb Taylor (2021 G): 28 points
Hopkins’ Tristen Perry (2023 F): 26 points
Muskegon’s Jordan Briggs (2023 G): 24 ponts, 6 assists, 6 steals
