Game I Attended:
Wyoming 79, FH Central 74
The (2-0) Rangers of FHC traveled to Wyoming to take on the (2-2) Wolves. It’s still very early in the season, but Wyoming has already been battle-tested with close losses to Northview and South Christian. The Wolves looked to notch their signature win of the early season. It was a shootout early with both teams tied 38-38 at halftime. Wyoming had held a 27-22 lead in the second quarter, but it dwindled down to 0 at half. In the third quarter, Wyoming began to separate from FHC led by Jaleil Holt’s 7 Q3 points while playing in foul trouble. The Wolves had their largest lead of the game at 10 points (56-46), but FHC crawled back to trail by six heading into the final quarter. Wyoming’s lead evaporated with FHC trailing 61-60 with 5:20 remaining. Jacob Bonnett could have tied the game but only split a pair at the line. The Wolves went on an immediate 9-2 run to take control of the game once again. The Wolves would win the game 79-74 to improve to 3-2. Wyoming did a great job on the offensive glass providing many second-chance opportunities. FHC on the other hand struggled to rebound and had some careless turnovers that cost them the game. Leading Wyoming was Qua’dir Hatchett and Ramere Draper both with 22 points while Jaleil Holt added 13 points. On the FHC side Jacob Bonnett scored 29 points, Conner Milton had 18 points, and sophomore transfer Jonas VanderWoude had 13 points on 3-4 from 3PT range.
