West Michigan Roundup, Friday 3/19/21

Last night was the last Friday night of the regular season and featured limited games. Going along with the theme of the week, many teams declined to play last night to keep themselves safe for districts. In one of the few notable games in the OK Conference, Zeeland East defeated Muskegon for the second time this season 59-52 to secure an undefeated regular season. In the Kalamazoo area, Marcellus continues to shine with another victory over Paw Paw 70-56, although Paw Paw is still without Finlay Tate. I thought this Marcellus team had a lot of promise coming into the season, but they struggled out of the gate. It seems as though they are getting hot at the right time and I would not want to see them in districts. Otsego got a 57-51 victory over Allegan on senior night. BC Lakeview won their second straight game against BC Central 56-46 and they will hook up again next week in districts. One of the crazier scores I’ve seen this season was Bellevue defeating St. Philip 79-6, I guess they missed the extra point.

Best Win: Harper Creek over Coldwater 55-41

Harper Creek handed Coldwater their third straight loss after starting (11-1). The Beavers fell by 17 points to Coldwater the first time, but avenged that loss last night with a 14 point victory.

Next Best: Schoolcraft over Lapeer 58-46

Schoolcraft made the long trip across the state to Lapeer and took on the (8-5) Lightning. Lapeer has hung with some good teams this year such as Arthur Hill, so this is a strong win for Schoolcraft heading into the D3 playoffs.
