UPDATE: E-mails have been sent by the Sound Mind Sound Body Foundation staff to confirm their spot in the event.

On Friday, August 4, 2017, The Sound Mind Sound Body Foundation in conjunction with the Horatio Williams Foundation will host over 200 of the top high school football players in the state of Michigan for a pre-season media day/leadership luncheon.

Over 100 of the students in attendance have received college scholarship offers. These young men represent the best talent of Michigan high school football.

Prior to meeting with media, students will have an opportunity to hear from community, sports and business leaders on the attributes of an effective leader. Our goal is to inform them that "being a good athlete" is not enough to succeed in life off the playing field. We want each student to leave knowing that they are more than an athlete.

Guest speakers will discuss: leadership, teamwork, character, “attitude of gratitude” and entitlement. Following the conclusion of presentations, lunch will be served for students, presenters and media – affording all an opportunity to engage with one another and one-to-one Q & A.

This program is critical to developing holistic leaders both on and off the field.

As in the past, the media share our stories to the masses conveying the uniqueness of our programming. Several media outlets are expected to be in attendance (to name a few):

- The D Zone
- D1Freak
- Sports in the D
- State Champs
- Detroit News
- Free Press
- Michigan Chronicle
- CBS
- WDIV 4
- WXYZ 7

Media will cover the players in attendance and guest speakers. This event will provide a great platform for exposing the community to the wealth of talent within the metro Detroit community.
