The D Zone predicts the #54 Madison Heights vs. #59 New Lothrop game
Division 7 State Championship game:
The #54 ranked, Madison Heights Eagles have made it to Ford Field after what was a grueling regular season schedule for a D7 school and they had an incredible win over Cassopolis 37-34 in the semi-final. This will be Madison's first appearance at Ford Field since losing the D5 final in 2006.
Madison Heights's playoff path features wins over; #125 Cassopolis, #272 Riverview Gabriel Richard, #93 Loyola, and #314 Shrine.
The #59 ranked, New Lothrop Hornets enter this game with a 12-1 record, as they brushed aside their week 9 loss to St. Francis nicely. New Lothrop had the toughest task in D7 as they needed to eliminate the defending state champions, Pewamo-Westphalia. Coincidentally New Lothrop appeared in the 2006 finals as well but they defeated Forest Park in the D8 final.
New Lothrop's playoff path features wins over; #188 Lake City, #53 Pewamo-Westphalia, #200 Cass City, and #161 Laker.
Following the regular season, Madison Heights was the #54 ranked team in the state and #2 in Division 7 while New Lothrop was the #59 ranked team in the state and #3 in Division 7.
Prediction: Madison by 6
Explanation: This could be as good as any game over the weekend, including the D1 game after it. These teams are so evenly matched it's insane. The quarterback play from both is incredible. Austin Brown is one of the most productive QB's ever in Michigan while Avery Moore is a junior gunslinger. Missouri commit, Aidan Harrison needs to be the x-factor in this game if New Lothrop is to win.
