Recap Of West Ottawa Playoff Win vs. Grandville
The Grandville Bulldogs were hungry after being dominated the week before. Although the Panthers made last week look easy, this game was much different.
The Bulldogs were first to score but the Panthers never backed down. This game could have gone either way, it was a matter of staying focused, and that's what West Ottawa did. Quarterback Isaac VanDyke's mobility kept a few key drives alive as he scrambled for the first down and more. VanDyke also found Xavier Wade for 2 TD'S despite his double and triple coverage at times, as well as Liam Cavanaugh for 3 TD's including the last minute game winner. VanDyke's focus and composure would come in clutch this game. Before the game winning drive, senior receiver Xavier Wade was focused and confident which seemed to radiate off of him as his the team ran out to finish the game. "Lets go, this our time," said Wade Hyping up his O-line led by center Omar Disla. Heading on to the field, Wade also encouraged QB Issac VanDyke, "C'mon bro, lets go get it." The last play, VanDyke drops back and scans his options with time, then a Bulldog defender broke through and got ahold of him and began bringing him down, VanDyke then notices Liam Cavanaugh in the endzone and made the clutch pass while being taken down to win the game with less than a minute left.
The West Ottawa Panthers take on the Rockford Rams in round 2 and are looking to repeat after beating the Rams for the first time in 15 years earlier this season while the Rams are seeking revenge. Both teams are looking to keep their seasons alive Friday night, this game is a must watch.
