Recap Of West Ottawa round 2 win
West Ottawa wins first ever district championship tonight by rocking the Rams for the second time this season. The entire team stepped up and did what they had to do to move on to the next round. Issac VanDyke finished with 3 TD's, one to Liam Cavanaugh, another to the freshman Blake Bosma (a beautiful one handed grab in the corner of the endzone), and finally to Xavier Wade reaching for the pylon to clinch the win. The defense shut down Rockford holding them to one TD before the half while West Ottawa scored 3 times. The Panthers defense forced and recovered a fumble on the first play of the game and another later in the game while forcing more throughout the game but not recovering. Liam Cavanaugh won the Mlive week 10 player of the week and backed that up by helping his team win another game this week. The defensive line, led by Bryan Johnson, was in control of the line most of the game. senior Angelo Mata came back and produced as always with a 10 yard sack and other crowd engaging hits. Mata can force his way around a blocker and chase down players like a monster as he showcased tonight. Good work making them say WO tonight, Panthers.
West Ottawa takes on the winner of Clarkston vs Davison in the next round at home in the regional finals. The momentum of this team continues to build and the Panthers continue to make history.
