The D Zone got stuck in Detroit highway traffic which caused us to miss part of the 1st quarter and left early to beat traffic for the 7pm game. Fortunately those were the only 2 scoreless quarters in the game, as we were there to capture the action in this 21-20 victory by Renaissance.

We'll break down their performances below:

Renaissance:

2021 CB Robert Army is a 6'1 175 lbs CB/WR who had a major role for the Phoenix on both sides of the ball. Army is a long and lengthy player with good speed, he had some plays in coverage during the game, but offensively he was key with a touchdown that made the score 20-20 before Renaissance kicked the PAT and he also had a nice kickoff return for a touchdown which was right after a Denby touchdown.

2020 QB Raequan Beal is a 6'4 200 lbs QB who is ranked by The D Zone as the #21 player in the Class of 2020 had some ups and downs vs. Denby's aggressive defense. Beal's best turned out to be the difference in the game as he had a nice strike on a post-route 78-yard TD to Darnell Adams and then the game-winning touchdown was from 33 yards out and it was truly a beautiful pass to Rob Army who was streaking down the sideline and was hit in stride.

2020 TE/WR/LB Jerome Nichols is a versatile 6'1 215 lbs prospect who had a nice game on defense for the Phoenix with some key plays vs. a potent Denby offense.

2019 MLB Dakarai Washington is a 6' 220 lbs linebacker prospect who had some nice plays stopping Denby's potent rushing attack. Washington holds an NAIA offer from Lawrence Tech + Mount Union roster spot.

2022 DT/OT Darrell Lipscomb is a 6'2 265 lbs lineman who did well as a Nose Guard and also played Left Tackle where he for the most part held down his side of the field. Limpscomb is athletic for his size and age so we'll be seeing what else he does in the future.

Denby:

2019 RB/CB T’Shawn Wilkes is a 6'2 lbs RB prospect who was probably the top performer overall in this game; as he's shifty, has good speed, and is a tough runner. Wilkes scored a 23 yard rushing touchdown and a 65 yard punt return touchdown for the Tars.

2019 LB/DE/TE Ty’Metrius Patterson was a force to be reckoned with all day as the LB brought the pressure throughout the game with a sack or two and more QB pressures.

2019 OT Louie Curtis is a 6'5 310 lbs prospect who was solid for the Tars as they constantly kept Renaissance's DL in check.

2019 OLB/RB Jonathan Moreland is a 5'10 220 lbs LB who stood out big time for Denby despite having a cast one of his hands. Moreland showed strong awareness of reading/reacting to play. He closes very strong around the ball.

2019 WR/CB Jamari Griffin is a vertical threat who had a nice touchdown reception and was someone Renaissance made an effort to focus on defensively.

2019 DE Adrian Brown is a 6'2 230 lbs prospect who holds a D2 offer from Urbana, is a physical player who caused disruption for the Renaissance offense and also played special teams.

2020 DT Jermaine Trammell is a high motored 5'11 260 lbs DT prospect who is an interior mauler that gets off the line of scrimmage well.

2019 OC Jaivon Preston is a 6'2 305 lbs OC prospect who holds Concordia and Urbana offers. Had some nice blocks in run/pass protection.
