OK Conference Top Wideouts Through Five Weeks
Through five weeks of the regular season, a handful of wideouts across the OK Conference have made their impact felt and helped their teams in big spots, making the difference between a win and a loss. Below are 10 of the best wideouts in West Michigan this season. Click on each player's name to see their highlights.
Jacob Bonnett, Forest Hills Central 2022"
Jacob has served as the swiss army knife of sorts for Forest Hills Central this season. He’s one of the most dangerous return men in the OK Conference and has a good of a chance as anyone to take a kickoff or punt to the endzone. His first step and overall elusiveness make him one of the Ranger’s primary targets on short throws. Getting the ball to Jacob in space usually ends in positive yardage gained and missed tackles for the defense.
Conner Milton, Forest Hills Central 2022"
Conner is one of the more physically imposing wideouts in the area, and because of this, he’s especially great in one-on-one throws to the outside. He has the ability to go up and get the ball over defenders. Conner has also displayed great hands and an ability to win 50/50 balls when Forest Hills Central needs a big play.
Tyler might be the most complete wideout in the area due to his speed, athleticism, and ability to high point a pass. The Army commit transferred into Rockford for his senior season and has fit into the Rams offense seamlessly. His chemistry with Ram’s quarterback Zak Ahern has been apparent, adding another dimension to one of the best offenses in the state.
Camron Townsend, Kelloggsville 2023"
Camron is one of the quickest athletes I’ve seen on film from the 2023” class. He can get to the second level of the defense in a flash and is a problem to bring down in the open field. His playmaking ability translates to huge numbers and production all over the field. In week four, Camron had three interceptions, returning two of those for pick-sixes. On special teams, he returned a punt for a score, and on offense, he had an 11-yard touchdown run and a 49-yard yard touchdown reception.
Caleb is another athlete on this list that you can plug into multiple positions and formations and expect success. Caleb has great vision, which is evident in the return game and when get gets the ball in space. Despite Jenison’s rough start this season, Caleb has continued to play at a high level on a weekly basis.
Dylan is a crisp route runner who thrives in situations where he gets the ball with space to work. He’s one of the more patient runners after the catch, which makes him a valuable weapon on screen passes. His vision jumps off the tape on screen plays, as he can work to get extra yardage that might not be there initially. In the return game, Dylan isn’t afraid to field a punt with little to zero room to work, and somehow finds a way to often flip the field in such situations.
Amir Nixon, Grand Rapids Christian 2022"
Amir has been one of Grand Rapids Christian’s most valuable assets this season and is a big reason why the Eagles have won three games in a row and sit tied atop the OK White standings with Forest Hills Central and Byron Center. Amir put together one of the more impressive games this season against Lowell when he hauled in six passes for 126 yards and a 46-yard touchdown pass.
Ryan Serba, Coopersville 2022"
Ryan is coming off of one of the more impressive games of the season in the Bronco’s week five win over Allendale, in which he caught nine passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Serba has been not only Coopersville’s best wideout this season but one of the top wideouts in the OK Blue.
Jabari Campbell, Kelloggsville 2022"
Jabari has a number of intangibles that make him one of the hardest wideouts to cover in the area. He has the speed to take the top off a defense, the physical tools to grab 50/50 balls over defenders, and the presence of mind to drag his feet when catching passes near the sidelines. Time and time again on his tape you can see the trust his quarterback his in him to go up and make a play when the Rockets need a big gain.
Jalen Charity, Northview 2022"
Jalen is one of the more naturally gifted athletes in the 2022 class and is also a standout on the Northview basketball team. Jalen uses his verticality to high point passes, making the quarterback’s job that much easier. Jalen has sure hands and can come up big in the clutch as witnessed when he caught a 25-yard touchdown pass with 14 seconds left to help lift the Wildcats to a 35-31 win over Forest Hills Northern in week four.
