After five weeks, we have somewhat of a picture of each of the league races in the OK Conference. Week six gives us a stacked slate of games with two undefeated matchups in the Blue, and the game of the week in the Silver that just might decide the league winner. Below are my picks for this week’s best games across the OK Conference.

My picks last week: 5-1. Overall: 18-4

OK Red

Grandville (2-3) @ Grand Haven (3-2)

Grand Haven and Grandville come into tonight’s game with arguably as much on the line as any two teams across the OK Conference. From a playoff perspective, it’ll be an uphill battle to make the postseason after a loss in tonight’s game given the remaining schedule for each team. Grandville’s offense has come alive the past two weeks, averaging 47.5 points in that span. Grand Haven has been the surprise team of the year in the Red so far, already winning three games after going winless in 2020. The Bucs will need to generate a few big plays and find a way to turn Grandville over if they hope to come away with the win.

Prediction: Grandville 42, Grand Haven 20

OK Green

Zeeland East (3-2) @ Grand Rapids Union (3-2)

I doubt many people had this game tabbed as one of the top games of week six, but given each team’s ability to score, this game should be a true barn burner. Tommy Stevens has led Union to its first 3-win season since 2003 and could be thinking playoffs with a win tonight. Zeeland East has had its fair share of bruises this season but has shown promise with an offense that has produced 36 points per game. However, the Chix defense has been its biggest concern, giving up 35 points per game. Don Fellows has done a masterful job thus far at Union, and I think he gets a signature win tonight against the Chix in a shootout.

Prediction: Union 42, Zeeland East 38

OK White

Forest Hills Central (4-1) @ Grand Rapids Christian (3-2)

If it weren’t for the wildest ending to arguably any game this year, Forest Hills Central would be undefeated heading into the back end of its schedule. That said, losing to Grand Blanc in that fashion might be just what they needed to fuel a run at the OK White title and a deep run in the Division 2 playoffs. Grand Rapids Christian enters tonight’s game riding a three-game win streak thanks to an improved defense and playmakers Amir Nixon and Ace Thomas. The Eagles will need big plays from those two if they hope to take down the Rangers. I like Forest Hills Central’s defense to lead the way to a win tonight.

Prediction: Forest Hills Central 35, Grand Rapids Christian 14

OK Blue

Unity Christian (5-0) @ Spring Lake (5-0)

Two of the best offenses in the state collide tonight in a game of unbeatens. Unity Christian (55 ppg) and Spring Lake (45 ppg) will each look to take one step closer to a potential OK Blue title with a win tonight. Cam Chandler (Unity) and Jackson Core (Spring Lake) are two of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the area and will look to provide the spark to keep each of their undefeated seasons alive. Ultimately, I think the Crusaders have the best collection of athletes amongst any division four team in the state and can score with any team in the state, regardless of division.

Prediction: Unity Christian 42, Spring Lake 30

OK Silver

Comstock Park (5-0) @ Belding (4-1)

Not many pundits predicted Comstock Park to run the OK Silver this season. Yet, it appears that’s just the case as Comstock Park has won each of its conference games by an average margin of 25 points. Belding has a chance to cement itself back in the OK Silver race with an upset win over the Panthers. Belding’s star linebacker Jack Ward will be tasked with helping slow down a Panther attack that’s averaging 48 points per game. Comstock Park’s dynamic duo of Jackson Gates and Tyler DeWitt has been the standard in the conference through five weeks and can close in on a league title with a win over the Black Knights.

Prediction: Comstock Park 28, Belding 24
