Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.

Division 3 Matchup:

East Grand Rapids (5-4)

An ominous 24-0, Week 9 loss against Forest Hills Central looms large ahead of this week’s rematch. With the loss fresh on their minds, EGR should be motivated to get revenge and show they can win a playoff game for the first time since 2020. Wins against Lowell and GR Catholic Central prove EGR can beat top opponents. But can they streak together a run of those wins? That will be the big question they need to ask entering a tough pre-district matchup.

Forest Hills Central (7-2)

It would be easy, yet dangerous for the Rangers to look past this game after a Week 9 shutout victory over EGR. The Rangers look poised to make some noise in the D3 playoffs, but never underestimate a team with something to prove. It was a low-scoring season for FH Central, finishing the regular season with just 186 points. The Rangers failed to score over 35 points in a game, but displayed elite defense by holding teams under 15 points in seven of nine games. The old adage is that defense wins championships. The Rangers probably hope that’s true.
