Michigan HS Football Pre-District Preview: DeWitt vs. St. Johns
Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.
Division 3 Matchup:
DeWitt (9-0)
The superlatives are never-ending when describing the DeWitt football program. Undefeated this fall while scoring over 400 points for the sixth straight season. DeWitt had a three-game stretch where they outscored their opponents 168-7, proving their dominance on both sides of the ball. The Panthers have made the playoffs every year since 1999 and have reached at least the state semifinal five out of the last seven seasons.
St. Johns (6-3)
St. Johns returns to the playoffs for the first time since 2019, but had been fairly regular postseason participants before that. The Redwings won their first five games this fall, scoring over 40 points in half of them. Three straight losses put a damper on their momentum, but the Redwings rebounded in Week 9 with a convincing win over Alpena. St. Johns will be a heavy underdog in this matchup, yet they will fight until the final whistle.
