Michigan HS Football Pre-District Preview: Detroit Pershing vs. Old Redford
Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.
Division 6 Matchup:
Old Redford (8-1)
The Ravens were one four-point loss away from a perfect regular season. Instead, they turned in their second straight 8-1 season and their first back-to-back postseason appearance since 2012 through 2014. Old Redford scored 279 points this fall - their highest mark since 307 points in 2014. The Ravens closed out the season with five straight wins of scoring at least 35 points. During that stretch, they only allowed 12 points total with three shutouts.
Detroit Pershing (7-2)
The Doughboys trail only the Watersmeet Nimrods for best nickname in the state. They announced their presence as a potentially dominant football team in Week 2 with a crushing 67-6 victory. When the dust settled on the regular season, Pershing scored 307 points and only allowed 135 points. The 307 points were the most in school history post 1951. The Doughboys have now reached the playoffs three of the last four years, quietly building a solid overall program.
