Michigan HS Football Pre-District Preview: De La Salle vs. Port Huron Northern
Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.
Division 2
De La Salle (6-2)
The Pilots survived a brutal schedule to finish with another impressive record. This will be their eighth straight playoff appearance, and the Pilots have reached four straight state finals. De La Salle’s 236 points scored were its least amount since 2021 (211). The Pilots had scored over 500 points in each of the last three seasons. Yet, De La Salle still scored 30-plus points in five of its eight games this season, proving they still have elite firepower potential. The Pilots have a plethora of talent on both sides of the ball, including junior DB David Williams, who is getting SEC interest.
Port Huron Northern (7-2)
The Huskies started the season with two straight losses, including a 41-0 drubbing against GP South. However, they rallied with seven straight wins while scoring at least 20 points in each game during the streak. The Huskies played a lot of close games, and mostly came out victorious. They will be the natural David to the Pilots’ Goliath in this matchup based on strength of schedule and program history, but the Huskies have the talent and passion to make some noise and bust some brackets.
