Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.

Division 1 Matchup:

Clarkston (6-3)

The Wolves were consistently inconsistent this season. In a perfect pattern they followed a loss with two wins in a series of three-game cadences throughout the season. Clarkston lost the regular-season matchup between these two teams, 20-13, so they should be hungry for revenge. Clarkston finished the regular season with an impressive, blowout win against 7-2 Utica Eisenhower, a team that looked like a potential sleeper before Week 9 (and still could be). If the Wolves can maintain that hard-hitting, relentless style, they could surprise some teams in the playoffs.

Lake Orion (6-3)

It’s been an interesting season for the Dragons, who won their first three games, easily before the schedule started getting tough. Lake Orion defeated Rochester Adams in Week 5, sandwiched between a couple losses against Oxford and West Bloomfield. The Dragons’ usually stingy defense allowed 49 points to West Bloomfield. Still, a bounce-back win against Clarkston in Week 7 will loom large on their confidence entering this week’s matchup. The Dragons have only made it out of the pre-district once since 2020, while Clarkston has reached at least the regional each of the past two seasons.
