Michigan HS Football District Preview: De La Salle vs. GP South
Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.
Division 2
De La Salle (7-2)
The Pilots enter the district round on the heels of four straight wins, while scoring over 40 points in three of them. It’s a great bounceback following two straight losses in the middle of the season. De La Salle scored 285 points this season, which was a sharp decline after amassing over 500 points in each of the last three years. The Pilots started the season with three quality wins against Davison, Detroit King and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, proving they can make a run against top teams.
Grosse Pointe South (10-0)
The Blue Devils have only lost one regular-season game in the last two seasons combined. They have also only missed the playoffs once since 2008. Yet, they have only made it out of the district round twice during that time. The Blue Devils scored 380 points this season, never scoring under 27 in a game. They will try to keep that offensive momentum going against one of the best defenses in the state.
