Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.

Division 1 Matchup:

Byron Center (9-1)

The west side of the state will be treated to an elite battle Friday night when Byron Center tries to avenge its Week 4, 14-12 loss against Mona Shores. Another game that seems like it's happening too soon in the postseason. Byron Center has an elite offense that flirted with 400 points scored. QB Landon Tungate is a terrific passer and can be a solid runner. Receivers Isaac Lee and Will Lake each caught a touchdown last week and should be major factors again on Friday.

Mona Shores (9-1)

A massive influx of talent has hit Mona Shores in football and boys basketball. The Sailors are fringe state title contenders in both sports, and some of their best players will return next year, too. Mona Shores’ only loss came Week 9 by one point against an Ohio-based team. Mona Shores has been a consistent fixture in the playoffs since 2013, including four state finals appearances throughout that time period. This should be a battle you won’t want to miss.
