Throughout the week, we will provide previews for some of the top matchups throughout each round of the playoffs.

Division 1 Matchup:

Saline (7-3)

Maybe the most anticipated matchup in the state. A young, but explosive Saline team will battle the nationally-ranked Belleville Tigers way too early in the postseason. Saline would have been 9-0 in the regular season, but was forced to forfeit their first three games. Saline scored a mighty 420 points, while allowing just 79 points this season. Since Week 4, Saline has scored over 300 points with just 24 points against. The Hornets are built similarly to the Howell squad that recently beat Belleville by a point. This should be a classic.

Belleville (9-1)

The Tigers looked dominant last week in a 68-0 clobbering of Ann Arbor Pioneer. After losing in Week 9, Belleville played like they had something to prove in the pre-district. QB Bryce Underwood is headed to LSU next fall, but he still has business left in Belleville. The Tigers are trying to earn their fourth straight trip to the state finals, and avenge last year’s finals loss. Belleville is loaded with D1 college talent in every aspect of the game. This should be a highly-skilled, smash-mouth game that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. The winner of this game has a real shot at lifting the state trophy at the end of the month.
