Madison Heights Lamphere’s football program will attempt to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2010 when the Rams play rival Madison Heights Madison at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at Madison.

The Eagles have already secured the program’s 13th consecutive trip to the playoffs, and will head into the game at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division.

Lamphere is 5-3 overall and 4-0 in the MAC Bronze. The Rams didn’t win a single game last season.

Although teams can get into the playoffs with five wins, six is the number of victories required to automatically qualify.

With a win, Madison would go undefeated in the regular season for the first time since 2013.

The Eagles can cause problems both offensively and defensively, as they are averaging over 34 points a game, while holding opponents to 17.5 per contest.

Madison won its sixth consecutive MAC Silver championship with a 21-20 victory against Eastpointe High Oct. 14.
