Grandville defeated Rockford 24-14 Friday night in a pre-district matchup, extending their early postseason run.

The Rams struck first, taking a 7-0 lead with a six-yard Brayden Daniels rushing score late in the first quarter.

Grandville’s Jake Keranen converted a 35-yard field goal early in the second quarter to pull the Bulldogs with four points at 7-3.

With halftime looming, Grandville took their first lead of the game with an eight-yard touchdown run by DJ Hardiman. The Bulldogs led 10-7 heading into the break.

Midway through the third quarter, Grandville extended their lead to 17-7 with a three-yard touchdown catch by national recruit Tank Terry on a well-orchestrated play.

Terry then burst the game open with under a minute left in the third quarter, powering his way to a 73-yard touchdown run. Grandville led 24-7 with one quarter remaining.

With just over five minutes left in the game, Rockford made the game interesting with a four-yard score.

But the Bulldogs hung on, running the clock out on Rockford’s season, while claiming a spot in next week’s districts.
