Opponent History: Muskegon leads the all-time series 18-12, and won the last matchup in 2011, 36-16.
The second game day of the 2021 high school football season features a matchup between two old OK-Red Rivals in East Kentwood and Muskegon. Muskegon comes into the season with state championship aspirations while the Falcons will look to improve upon their 2-4 record from a season ago.
The Big Reds feature a number of highly touted athletes, including wide receiver/defensive back Jeremiah Dault, lineman Jamarrius Dickerson, slot/defensive back Damari Foster, and quarterback/defensive back Myles Walton. The Falcons feature a young but talented core led by quarterback Casey Joppie, and wide receiver/defensive backs Reggie Brown and Jamari Ross.

Keys To The Game
There’s no question that each roster is filled with playmakers that can take it the distance on any given play. The amount of skill, speed, and athleticism on each of these teams' roster can go toe-to-toe with just about any other program in the state. With that being said, I think whoever wins the turnover battle and can convert those extra opportunities into points will have a huge advantage and ultimately win the game.
After losing to Dewitt in a toss up in last year’s semis, I think that Muskegon is driven to get back to that opportunity, and realizes it must take care of less talented teams along the way. In what could be a game filled with big plays, I like Muskegon, led by it’s defense to take care of business and start the season with a win on the road.
Prediction
Muskegon 30, East Kentwood 14
