A tale of two halves, Midland dominated the first half leading 28-14. TC West's defense and special teams was the difference in the 2nd half, as they won 35-28.

Traverse City West:

2022 WR/CB Will Gaston - Overcame an earlier mistake on defense and was tough to pass on throughout the game. His big play was a nicely ran back punt return. 6'4 prospect should continue to draw good interest this year.

2022 RB/LB Michael Schermerhorn - Had a monster 4th quarter with the game-sealing interception, forced fumble when they were up by 1, and then scoring on the very next play. A great football player who you can tell loves the game.

2022 TE/DE Caleb Kouchnerkavich - Provided some good blocking in a TE/H-Back role throughout the game, and made some plays on defense. His highlight was a pursuit on a punt that resulted in an errant punt when they were down 28-14 and they dominated after that.

2022 OLB/TE Carson Douglass - Had a very strong showing defensively this game. Very physical prospect who gets to the ball well.

2022 OL/DL Kyle McCrumb - High motored player and got in to force a fumble during their comeback run.

2022 QB Brandon Konchek - Showed what he can do running the ball and he had some good runs and decisions throughout the game.

2023 DB/WR Matt Zoutendam - Good day in coverage and made some plays around the line of scrimmage.

2023 OT/DT Dan Rosa - Monster prospect at 6'5 350 and he definitely looks that size. Plays with high energy when he's dialed in and all game with a motor. Moves pretty well upfield as well too.

Midland:

2022 QB Drew Barrie - Michigan Tech basketball commit was outstanding in the first half running the ball and getting the ball to their playmakers. First start so I expect him to get better as the year progresses. Would see him as a TE or Receiver recruit if that's the path he went.

2022 TE Kyle Leigeb - Monster player at 6'5 205 and mostly blocked well this game. Had one target on offense, but we figure he'll have an increased role as the season goes on.

2023 WR/S Jason Davenport - Had a huge game and is a solid athlete. Was the Chemics top playmaker throughout the game.

2024 WR/CB Jason Brown - Had many key plays during the first half of the game. Equally impressive on offense and defense.

2023 OL/DT Logan Ware - Had a strong game at LT and pulled well in runs and pass block he didn't allow TC West to do much.

2023 OT Caden McPhillips - Had a good showing at the RT position, a bit undersized but provided some excellent blocks to free up the run game and did well in pass block.
