Grosse Pointe South despite being without 5-star DB Will Johnson, still had no issues running and passing all over Lakeview. The Blue Devils applied the running clock early in the 3rd quarter and will now move onto their top 20 showdown vs. Stevenson.

We'll break down top performances below:

Grosse Pointe South:

2022 DL Jackson Lambert was an absolute terror for Lakeview to defend no matter where he was lined up. He constantly was fighting through blocks and getting in the backfield to disrupt plays and have sacks/tackles for loss.

2023 RB Egan Sullivan is a real sleeper prospect in this junior class. He's really a total package type of player, his speed and initial burst are legit. He isn't afraid to initiate contact with defenders. He scored as a RB and when flanked out wide.

2022 OLB/RB Jonathan Drake was a really big standout defensively with many tackles around the line of scrimmage and filling the gaps. Had some good sideline-to-sideline tackles as well.

2022 DE/TE Joey Klunder was a force immediately for the Blue Devils in this game. He had some nice blocks as a TE and defensively he caused a lot of havoc blowing up plays and allowing other teammates to make plays. Committed to Michigan as a preferred walk-on and held nearly a dozen FCS offers.

2022 WR Charlie Brandon is a nice possession receiver who had a tremendous catch on the sideline early in the game and had some other catches to pick up good yardage. Also, he scored on a really well-executed double-reverse run.

2023 RB/LB Donovan Moody didn't get to show much with how well Egan Sullivan ran but towards the end of the game, his efforts paid off with a long touchdown run. A good-sized prospect who is sure to grab some attention this year.

2023 QB Anthony Benard is an athlete and does well at the position. He rolled out a few times and made some nice plays. Has a good arm for short and intermediate routes. It'll be interesting seeing him and Will Johnson lined up in the backfield at the same time this year.

2023 S Luke Willson came down and made some good run support and was a sure tackler.

2022 MLB Chase Campbell had a good game and was a vocal leader on the defense. Was involved in several tackles, had a really good gap stuff solo tackle as well. Offensively he was dealing some major blocks as an FB.

2023 OG Peter Ulku had a huge game upfront, the RG was constantly driving his man downfield, had some nice pulls, and didn't give up anything on pass block.

2024 OT CJ Schervish is the youngest part of the GPS OL and is the LT. Schervish has a lot of tools to work with and will be a nice name to know going forward.

2022 OT Mike Hamilton is the lone senior starter on the offensive line and is a big man at 6'6 300 lbs. Hamilton moves pretty well and got upfield quite a bit to block.

Lakeview:

2022 WR/OLB Cortez Howard had the Huskies biggest plays with a nice reception on their sideline late in the 1st half. He didn't get a chance to get many other targets.

2022 OT Ethan Gates didn't get to show too much in their run-heavy offense but is definitely a player to know.

2022 QB/ATH Tristan Witt was running QB in their wing offense and is a pretty good athlete. He had a few nice runs escaping the pocket and keeping plays alive.

2023 MLB Keegan Tackett had a big game at the position and closed the gaps well at times and had some nice pursuit on plays outside the tackles.
