Eisenhower clinches conference crown with win over Dakota (Story)
Utica Eisenhower defeated Macomb Dakota 21-14 Friday night to earn the MAC Red Conference title.
Eisenhower (6-1) helped its fans at Swinehart field get the early momentum with a trick-play touchdown to kick off the scoring.
The Eagles took a 14-0 lead after a sack-fumble was returned for a 60-yard touchdown. Eisenhower remained two scores ahead heading into halftime.
After a long third-quarter drive, Dakota got back into the game with a five-yard Brady Hamby touchdown run.
Dakota missed its second field goal early in the fourth quarter, and Eisenhower ultimately made them pay with a late touchdown to take a convincing 21-7 lead.
Unable to totally back down, Dakota scored a touchdown with just 40 seconds left to again cut the deficit to just one score. But the onside kick failed, allowing Eisenhower to celebrate.
The Eagles will try to keep their momentum next week against St. Clair Shores Lakeview.
