Division 8 - Round 1 2017 Playoffs Recap

Overview: Muskegon Catholic Central has won the previous 4 Division 8 titles and returns their sophomore quarterback in Cameron Martinez.

Round 1 summary: For the most part everything went to script.

Upsets: 8-0 AuGres Sims was unable to beat Hillman for the 2nd time this year. AuGres was looking to win the first playoff game in school history. We're told AuGres will be in 8-Man in 2018.

What to look forward to in Round 2: West Iron hosting Norway will be a show in the UP, the winner will get a heavy D8 contender in week 12.

The winner of the above game will face the winner of Frankfort at Gaylord St. Mary Cathedral. The two squads have two of the most dangerous RB's in D8, Griffin Kelly and Calen Gilling.

Hillman will look to get revenge on a team they lost to in the regular season for a 2nd straight week as they'll travel to Lincoln Alcona again. They lost in week 2 to Alcona, 28-8.

Harbor Beach at Saginaw Nouvel will be a key game in Region 2. Two incredible teams with a District Championship on the line.

Mendon hosts Muskegon Catholic Central. A few years ago these teams had some incredible back and forth games. Here we go again, 2017 version!

Climax-Scotts offense is hitting on every imaginable cylinder as they scored 84 points last week. They'll travel to Pittsford who beat them 28-14 in week 8.

One of the best southern Michigan rivalries will resume this week as Petersburg-Summerfield and Ottawa Lake Whiteford will meet again. Whiteford has been incredible this year, they beat Summerfield 54-6 in week 3 this year already and have scored 549 points this season through 10 games.

Clarkston Everest did a tough task this past week in beating Our Lady of the Lakes for the 2nd time in 2017, they'll host Oakland Christian who beat Parkway Christian.
