Davison's clutch plays prove crucial in 14-12 win over Lapeer
It wasn't pretty at times in Davison's first round playoff win over neighboring Lapeer, but the Cardinals came up with key plays when it mattered the most.
Davison star RB Tariq Reid didn't see much action, fortunately senior Lamar Hay was more than up to the task as he had a bone crushing touchdown run in the 2nd quarter and several other nice runs.
Junior QB Cannon Hall through the better part of the 2nd half was the Cardinals primary rusher. Hall lobbed a pass to back of the endzone early in the 3rd quarter that senior receiver Austin Roland won the jump ball over the Lapeer CB.
On the last meaningful play of the game, 2020 DB Caleb Smith reached out to grab an interception setting off a wild celebration on the Davison side of the field.
Lapeer 2019 RB Jalen Kirkland in the 2nd half played like a senior who was looking to fight for one more game, as Kirkland was extremely tough to stop and scored a touchdown for the Lightning.
Lapeer will host Clarkston at a time to be determined on Saturday 11/4/2017.
