Clarkston topples Lake Orion in pre-district grudge match (Full Story)
Clarkston clinched a trip to the district Friday night with a 35-16 win over Lake Orion.
The Wolves electrified the crowd early with a 55-yard touchdown run by Griffin Boman in the first quarter.
After a couple of scoreless drives, Clarkston recovered a Lake Orion fumble late in the first quarter. They capitalized with a Griffin Bowan six-yard rushing touchdown, taking a 14-0 lead.
Lake Orion jumped on the board during the second quarter, getting back into the game, trailing 14-7.
After getting stopped at the goal line, Lake Orion was forced to settle for a field goal later in the second quarter, again cutting into the lead to trail 14-10.
As time expired in the first half, Clarkston’s Griffin Bowan continued his incredible half with a 58-yard touchdown scamper to take a 21-10 lead into the break.
Early in the second half, Clarkston took a 27-10 lead with a 54-yard strike from Alex Waszczenko to Lukas Bowan.
Lake Orion immediately answered, cutting Clarkston’s lead down to 27-16. With one quarter left, the Dragons were two scores away from a comeback.
However, Clarkston would not let that happen, finishing off a drive with a one-yard touchdown run to ice the game and claim a spot in the next round of the playoffs.
