Both teams easily won their first playoff games with Reed City dominating Grayling 54-8 and Clare handling Chip Hills 47-7 to earn their rights to play in the District Championship.
Common Opponents: Chip Hills- Reed City win 58-29. Clare win 47-7.
Series History- Reed City leads 11-8-1. The last meeting came in a Pre-District game in 2013 where Reed City dominated the Pioneers 49-7. The schools met every year from 1965-1978 as US-10/ North-Central B conference Rivals.
Headlines: Clare has a ton of talent including Jr. QB Kaden Kelly who came back in emphatic last week to jump start his offense to it’s 7th 40+ point performance of the season. He’s helped by Brendan Sersaw who’s been hitting form coming off a season high 131 yard receiving performance and two touchdowns along with Tyler Rodenbo who had 6 rushes for 27 yards and two touchdowns last week. The Coyotes are led by Junior Philip Jones who leads the state in TDs with 32 and has rushed for more than 1,700 yards this season. Can the defense remain stout and shut down a Reed City offense that has been held under 30 points just twice this season? Pioneers are on their quest for their first District Championship since 2012.
Winner plays the winner of District 1 matchup between Kingsford Flivers and Menominee Maroons in a Regional Final.
