This moment was what Nick Davis has been working towards his whole life. His phone buzzed and he thought it was another text from one of his friends. Yet as he looked down, he soon realized that this was no ordinary text message. This was a Facebook message from Coach James “Hoot” Gibson congratulating him and offering a full ride scholarship to play football at NAIA school Kentucky Christian University. “It was an amazing feeling,” said Davis, “It is very exciting to know that you have an opportunity to play college football, which is every high school football players dream”.

This offer is hopefully the first of many for Davis, who has garnered interest from many schools including: Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, South Carolina State, Ball State, Bowling Green, Toledo, Ohio, Kent State, Akron, Wayne State, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Central Michigan. Although Davis had never spoken to Kentucky Christian before, it is no surprise that yet another school wants the massive 6 foot 3 inch 295 pound Left Guard who will be the anchor of the offensive line of any school he decides to play at.

Davis knows that he will need to step up his play if Livonia Churchill will have a successful season next year. He and fellow Class of 2015 beast Matt Skibinski anchor the left side of the offensive line. The Chargers will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-7 after making the playoffs the previous two seasons before that. “I have been working out almost every day and doing position specific drills to get better,” Davis said about his desire to improve his play. With the motivation that Davis has, the only way for Churchill to go is up from here.

When Davis was asked about who he first told about his offer he smiled and said, “my mom of course”. If I had to guess, I’d say he will be telling his mom about a lot more offers before all is said and done.
